Turmeric Ginger Golden Milk (Printable)

A warming, creamy beverage infused with turmeric, ginger, and aromatic spices for natural wellness and comfort.

# What You Need:

→ Milk Base

01 - 2 cups whole milk or unsweetened almond, coconut, or oat milk

→ Spices

02 - 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
03 - 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or 1-inch fresh ginger peeled and sliced
04 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
06 - Pinch of ground cardamom

→ Sweetener and Additions

07 - 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup to taste
08 - 1 teaspoon coconut oil or ghee
09 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

# How-To:

01 - In a small saucepan, combine the milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and cardamom. Whisk well to distribute spices evenly.
02 - Heat the mixture over medium-low heat until steaming, approximately 5 to 7 minutes, ensuring it does not boil.
03 - Stir in honey or maple syrup, coconut oil or ghee, and vanilla extract. Whisk thoroughly until all components are well incorporated.
04 - Remove from heat. If using fresh ginger, strain the milk through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids.
05 - Pour into mugs and serve while warm.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The way the earthy turmeric and bright ginger create a warmth that spreads from your chest to your fingertips
  • How something so simple can feel like such an act of self care especially on grey rainy afternoons
  • The ritual of standing at the stove whisking and breathing in the spices feels meditative
02 -
  • Never let the milk come to a rolling boil which can change the texture and make it harder to whisk in the sweetener later
  • Black pepper is non negotiable for me now after learning it dramatically improves curcumin absorption
  • The coconut oil or ghee is optional but I've found it makes the drink feel substantially more satisfying and grounding
03 -
  • If the spices settle at the bottom give it a quick whisk or blend before pouring to distribute everything evenly
  • Pre whisk your dry spices with a tablespoon of the milk before adding to the pan to prevent any clumps
